Waterless electrochemical transdermal alcohol sensor and wearable transdermal alcohol sensor device
Patent No. 11278222

Inventor(s): Brian Rasimick (Boston, MA), Michael Moeller (Boston, MA)
Assignee(s): 1A SMART START LLC (Grapevine, TX)
Law Firm: Kriegsman Kriegsman (2 non-local offices)
Application No., Date, Speed: 15894255 on 02/12/2018 (1499 days app to issue)

Abstract: Waterless electrochemical transdermal alcohol sensor. In one embodiment, the sensor includes a proton exchange membrane imbibed with an imbibing liquid that includes at least one cationic substance that is liquid at room temperature. As examples, the cationic substance may be one or more ionic liquids with an imidazolium, phosphonium, ammonium, pyridinium, pyrrolidinium, or sulfonium backbone structure. The imbibing of the proton exchange membrane with the cationic substance obviates the need for the periodic addition of water to the electrochemical cell. The sensor additionally includes a sensing electrode, which is bonded to one side of the proton exchange membrane, and a counter electrode and a reference electrode, both of which are bonded to the opposite side of the proton exchange membrane. The sensor may be incorporated into a wearable transdermal alcohol sensor device, which, in turn, may be incorporated into a system for detecting transdermal alcohol.

Oral fluid, saliva and sputum collection device and method
Patent No. 11278264

Inventor(s): Mary E. Hines (Mabank, TX)
Assignee(s): OraSecure LLC (Mogadore, OH)
Law Firm: Benesch, Friedlander, Coplan Aronoff, LLP (2 non-local offices)
Application No., Date, Speed: 17226980 on 04/09/2021 (347 days app to issue)

Abstract: Disclosed herein are devices and methods for collecting oral fluids, saliva, or sputum. One exemplary device includes a collection cup with a hollow needle extending from a bottom end of the cup, where the hollow needle is covered with a compressible sleeve. A clear vacuum tube is positioned beneath the hollow needle. Oral fluids, saliva, or sputum from a donor are collected into the collection cup, and the vacuum tube is pushed onto the hollow needle and the hollow needle passes through the compressible sleeve, through a seal of the vacuum tube, and into the vacuum tube. Oral fluids, saliva, or sputum from the collection cup are drawn into the vacuum tube until the vacuum in the vacuum tube dissipates. An oral fluid specimen is, thus, provided ready for laboratory transport, point of collection screening, or diagnostic analysis while the oral fluid specimen is still in the transparent vacuum tube.

Reducing standby power in a switch mode power supply
Patent No. 11281272

Abstract: In a power supply having a control circuit for regulating the power supply output and a load switch for connecting the output to a load device, a method for reducing standby power includes determining if a load device is connected to the power supply. If no load device is connected, the load switch is turned off, and the power supply enters a standby mode, which includes alternating first time period of power-saving mode and second time period of regulating mode. In the power-saving mode, the control circuit stops regulating the output of the power supply and turns off one or more functional blocks to allow the output to drop, until the output reaches a pre-set low output limit. In the regulating mode, the control circuit turns on the functional blocks and regulates the power supply to allow the output to increase, until the output reaches a pre-set high output limit.

Abstract: A method includes detecting a micro start of frame packet (SOF) on a data bus. If there is at least one data packet contained in a microframe during the first threshold period after the SOF, transmitters are held in an active state. If there is no data packet in the first threshold period after the SOF, the transmitters are transitioned from the active state to an OFF state. The method also includes transitioning the transmitters from the OFF state to the active state prior to a switchback period before the end of the microframe. The method also includes transitioning the transmitters from the OFF state to the active state if a data packet is received in the OFF state. The method also includes dropping the data packet received in the OFF state and transitioning from the OFF state to the active state when the data packet is dropped.

Abstract: A system, method, and computer-readable medium for consolidating multiple databases into a single or a smaller number of databases is described. An improved structure of target database may be achieved by removing constraints used when creating legacy databases. According to some aspects, these and other benefits may be achieved by combining multiple source tables into a single target table with errors being identified and addressed during the creation of the instructions to generate the target table. In implementation, this may be effected by converting values from a source table and values from a target table into normalized versions of those values and then comparing the normalized values. A benefit includes verifying that the data from the source table is being properly reflected in the target table.

Based on the location, it can also be determined if use of the online wagering service is allowed in the jurisdiction along with prescribed limitations of use in that jurisdiction. Wagering options are then presented via the mobile device, which conform to the laws and/or regulations of the jurisdiction.

Abstract: A device may receive data indicating a required quality of service (QoS), and may receive radio access network (RAN) information associated with a RAN, wherein the RAN information is provided by a centralized unit (CU) of the RAN. The device may provide the RAN information to a multi-access edge computing (MEC) platform, and may receive, from the MEC platform, a QoS request that requests the required QoS. The device may provide the QoS request to the CU, and may receive a QoS response to the QoS request. The device may provide the QoS response to a policy control function (PCF) of a core network, and may receive an indication of approval of the QoS response from the PCF. The device may cause, based on receiving the indication of approval, the required QoS to be implemented by the MEC platform and network devices associated with the core network.

Mobile initiated only mode
Patent No. 11284352

Inventor(s): Jayshree Bharatia (Plano, TX)
Assignee(s): Ofinno, LLC (Reston, VA)
Law Firm: No Counsel
Application No., Date, Speed: 16787772 on 02/11/2020 (770 days app to issue)

Abstract: A wireless device in an RRC connected state receives a radio resource control (RRC) message from a base station. The wireless device transitions from the RRC connected state to an RRC inactive station in response to the RRC message. The RRC message indicates an active time period in which the wireless device is reachable by paging. The wireless device monitors to receive a paging message during the active time period after the transitioning. The wireless device activates a mobile initiated communication only (MICO) mode in response to an expiration of the active time period. The wireless stops monitoring for the paging message in response to the expiration of the active time period.
